Sarasota biz helps launch fast food at FAMU

Metz Culinary Management, a Pennsylvania firm that opened a southern U.S. headquarters in Sarasota last year, helped open a Chick-fil-A on the campus of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee.

Metz teamed up with FAMU officials to open the fast-food restaurant in the University Commons Orange Room, according to a release. FAMU officials project the restaurant will serve 1,000 guests daily and the opening has given students a number of job opportunities.'¨

“When we began working with FAMU, a survey was sent out to students asking them which brands they wanted to see on campus and Chick-fil-A was an overwhelming favorite,” Metz Culinary Vice President of Higher Education and Independent Schools Management Dennis Daley says in the release. “We are thrilled to open this restaurant for students and faculty. Its popularity will bring familiarity and excitement to the campus.”'¨'¨

Dallas, Pa.-based Metz recently picked up dining contracts for Hillsborough Community College, Polk State College and New College of Florida. Metz serves hospitals, schools and corporations and has more than 160 accounts in 14 states.
