SARASOTA — Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. announced it will purchase a line of cockpit voice recorders and flight data recorders made by L-3 Aviation Products, a Sarasota-based division of aerospace and defense giant L-3.

L-3 Aviation Products, with another large facility in Phoenix, will supply Gulfstream with its FA5003 Cockpit Voice Recorder/Flight Data Recorder for installation on G500 and G600 airplanes, according to a release. Gulfstream also ordered new touch screen display systems from L-3 Aviation Products. Terms of the agreement weren't released.

“Working in tandem with Gulfstream engineers, L-3 has developed a new touch screen standby display system that will debut aboard these amazing business jets,” L-3 Aviation Products vice president of marketing and sales Larry Riddle says in the statement.

L-3 Aviation Products manufactures voice and data recorders, collision avoidance systems, navigation products, display systems and processors from its Sarasota facility. It's parent firm, New York City-based L-3, had $12.6 billion in sales in 2013.
