Rectrix Aerodrome Centers, a fixed-base operator at the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, has been granted federal approval for corporate and general aviation departures to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Rectrix, according to a release, becomes the fourth fixed-base operator in Florida to receive Ronald Reagan Washington National approval from the Transportation Security Administration. The facility is also one of less than 80 nationwide to get the clearance. Rectrix officials began the approval process in May and were notified of the decision last month. The airport, under the call letters DCA, is three miles from downtown Washington, D.C.

“We are pleased to now offer our customers the flexibility of direct travel to Washington, D.C. through Reagan National Airport, which has been heavily restricted since Sept. 11, 2001,” Rectrix President and CEO Richard Cawley says in a release. “With the number of government contractors in the area, this added convenience will aid in the growth of business within our area.”
