Naples finance chief sentenced

FORT MYERS — U.S. District Judge Sherri Polster Chappell sentenced Alfred Lenz to nine months in prison for wire fraud, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

Chappell also ordered Lenz, 68, to pay nearly $2.4 million in restitution to Vineyards Development Corp. Lenz pleaded guilty in June.

According to the U.S. Attorney's office, Lenz was controller for Vineyards Development from March 2005 until April 2012. Between January 2007 and December 2010, he embezzled $2.38 million and used the money to buy real estate and for personal expenses.

In addition, Lenz must forfeit a house in Michigan and the contents of a retirement account traceable to the proceeds of the offense.
