Holmes Beach homebuilder Kaleta buys two-home Longboat Key parcel

Shawn Kaleta, the homebuilder/owner of Holmes Beach-based Beach to Bay Construction, purchased two rental homes on a half-acre gulf-side parcel for $1.18 million.

The ground-level cottages were built in 1964 and 1967 and feature about 2,000 square feet and 3,000 square feet under roof. The larger home features three bedrooms and two baths and a two-car garage. The second home has two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Kaleta says he purchased the homes to renovate and resell them. Those improvements will include exterior façades, finishes, landscaping and swimming pools.

“I'm contemplating putting them back on the market now,” he says. “That way the buyers have the option to pick their finishes, colors and the shape of the pool.. Being gulf front is a huge draw. People are always looking to be on the beach.”

Kaleta will be turning the property into condominiums so the buildings can be sold separately. He says the project will start within the buildings' existing footprints.
