FORT MYERS — Aurora Diagnostics selected NeoGenomics to provide cancer testing at each of Aurora's 19 laboratories around the country. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, Aurora's 110 physicians provide diagnostic and testing for patients in dermatology, urology, gastroenterology and women's health. Fort Myers-based NeoGenomics will provide Aurora with its broad array of cancer tests.

“Aurora's molecular medical advisory committee unanimously decided to partner with NeoGenomics after carefully considering a number of high-quality diagnostic laboratories,” says Bruce Walton, executive vice president of Aurora, in a statement. “Our committee evaluated quality-of-testing, breadth and depth of services, information technology capabilities, managed-care access, product development pipeline and future partnership opportunities.”

“Aurora Diagnostics is one of the largest anatomic pathology organizations in America with a very strong reputation for quality,” says Douglas VanOort, chairman and CEO of NeoGenomics, in a statement “Having served several of Aurora's regional laboratories in the past, we are now particularly pleased to enter into this broader alliance. We believe our oncology-focused genetic and molecular testing services are a perfect complement to Aurora's extensive laboratory services, and we look forward to combining our capabilities for the benefit of Aurora's clients and their patients across America.”

In addition to Fort Myers, NeoGenomics has labs in Irvine, Calif., Nashville, Tenn., and Tampa. The company's shares are publicly traded (symbol: NEO; recent price: $3).
