The new Bucs in town

Say arghh to the newest Buccaneers on the Gulf Coast.

Edison State College is changing its name to Florida SouthWestern State College and the administration recently announced new colors and logos for the school.

The new mascot will be the Buccaneer and it will bear the school's new colors, purple and aqua. The new colors and name will be effective July 1.

The move also coincides with the revival of the school's intercollegiate sports program, which it had abandoned in 1997. The college hired former Florida Gulf Coast University Athletic Director Carl McAlloose to head up the new Buccaneers program.
