TAMPA — Megabus.com, a city-to-city, express bus company, has announced an expansion of its bus line to include Miami, Tallahassee and Tampa. The company is also opening a new route, connecting Orlando and New Orleans, with service through Gainesville and Tallahassee; as well as Mobile, Ala.

The new services will start on May 15, but ticket sales kicked off yesterday. Each double-decker bus features free Wi-Fi and power outlets in every seat.

One-way fares start at $1, plus a reservation fee, on every bus.

To promote the expansion, Megbus.com will price all tickets to using the new lines at $1 plus a reservation fee from May 15 to 21.

There will be seven daily departures/arrivals for Miami, six to/from to Tampa and four to/from Tallahassee. In each service location, megabus.com provides service at or near a local transportation hub.

Megabus.com now serves a total of six metro areas in Florida: Gainesville, Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, Tallahassee and Tampa.

“Customers can travel to these popular destinations in approximately the same amount of time it would take to drive themselves, without the stress of being behind the wheel,” Mike Alvich, vice president of marketing for Megabus.com/Coach USA, says in a press release.

Megabus.com, a subsidiary of Coach USA, launched in April 2006 and is one of the largest city-to-city express bus service providers in North America. It serves more than 10 million people a year and serves 120 cities.
