ANNA MARIA ISLAND — An extensive makeover of one of the more prominent waterfront eateries in Manatee County, the BeachHouse Restaurant, is complete.

The BeachHouse, on the south end of Anna Maria Island, now has a completely rebuilt interior, including a new dining room, bar, bathrooms, retail area and state-of-the-art kitchen. The project at the 20-year-old restaurant, according to a release, took nearly seven months.

The new dining room includes new flooring, ceiling, fixtures and furniture, while the expansive bar has new seats and larger windows for Gulf views. A wine wall also stretches the length of the dining room's south end, the release states.

“This was an ambitious undertaking,” BeachHouse owner Ed Chiles says in the release. “It was important that it be done right. We knew there were going to be challenges due primarily to the scope of the project. I am extremely happy with how it has turned out and congratulate all those who have worked so hard to make it happen.”

Firms that worked on the project include Sarasota-based architecture and interior design firm the Schimberg Group and Whitehead Construction, based in Cortez.
