NAPLES — Hodges University named Andrea Fortin chair of a digital-media baccalaureate program that will start in the fall.

“The goal of this program is to prepare students for a variety of careers in communication, such as media production, web development, public service, advertising, public relations, media relations, journalism and writing,” says Fortin, in a statement. “It combines communication theory and practice with the use of digital technology, while exploring topics such as cultural and ethical studies in media, interpersonal communication, and visual communication and design.”

A Fort Myers native, Fortin has taught communication courses at Hodges for two years. She earned her bachelor's degree in communications and English from Florida Gulf Coast University and obtained a master's degree in public communication with a focus in new media studies from Fordham University.

Hodges was founded in 1990 and its main campuses are located in Naples and Fort Myers. Hodges also offers courses at several learning sites, including Pasco-Hernando State College and South Florida State College.
