Florida residents continue to go green when it comes to the vehicles they own.

The latest news: The state had 150,885 registrations for hybrid cars, SUVs, trucks and vans in 2013, according to a report from the Diesel Technology Forum. That's up 18.5% from 122,912 in 2012 and good for third-most hybrids in the country, behind California and Texas. The Diesel Technology Forum, a Frederick, Md.-based nonprofit, analyzes registration data for all 50 states and Washington, D.C., in conjunction with R.L. Polk and Co.

Florida is one of several states to post gains in hybrid and clean diesel vehicle ownership, the organization reports. Diesel car registrations are up 30% since 2010, the survey states, while the overall auto market rose 3.6%. “Consumers have an ever-growing number of choices for more fuel-efficient vehicles,” Diesel Technology Forum Executive Director Allen Schaeffer says in a release, “and this analysis shows that clean diesels are gaining in popularity all across the nation.”

Here's a glance at the top 10 states for hybrids and diesel passenger vehicles.
