BRADENTON — The first part of a new headquarters for Goodwill Manasota, one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the Sarasota-Manatee region, is scheduled to open to the public next week.

The opening is for the 35,866-square-foot retail store side of the complex, according to a release. The store includes a 24-hour drive-thru donation center, a boutique section and a unique 'treasure island' that showcases featured items. Other parts of the building, to open later this year, include corporate offices, a national training facility and a job connection center. The complex is on 9.2 acres on 51st Avenue East and U.S. 301 in Bradenton.

“We are excited to solidify Goodwill's presence in Manatee County,” Goodwill Manasota President and CEO Bob Rosinsky says. “Shoppers who frequented the DeSoto Junction store will be greeted by the same familiar faces of the employees who embody what Goodwill is all about.”

A grand opening event for the retail store is scheduled for Thursday, July 17, 9 a.m., at 2715 51st Ave. E., Bradenton. Goodwill Manasota served more than 16,000 people, placed 537 people in jobs and assisted 329 veterans in 2013.
