MANATEE — Laura Adcock has been named a senior associate and shareholder at WBRC Architects • Engineers, which has offices in Portland and Bangor, Maine, in addition to east Manatee County.

Adcock, according to a release, is the second woman shareholder in the firm's history, which dates back to 1902, and the first woman to hold that distinction in 35 years. Adcock is one of four WBRC employees promoted to senior associate and shareholder, the company says. The others are based in Maine.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Adcock has been with WBRC since 2005. She earned her architecture license in 2009, and was named an associate with the firm in 2011.

Seven architects and engineers own WBRC. The firm, with 60 employees and clients in 23 states and three Canadian provinces, provides architecture, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering, in addition to interior design and landscape architecture services. WBRC named Lakewood Ranch executive Doug Whitney president of the entire firm last summer.
