Love and donuts mix nicely

What could be better than freshly baked donuts from Bennett's Fresh Roast?

The purveyor of fresh-from-scratch donuts recently started selling gelato made by supreme confectioner Norman Love at the Bennett's location on Sanibel.

Norman Love, best known for his signature chocolates, also makes gelato. The frozen dessert is lower in butter fat content, so it's healthier than most ice creams.

With the winter tourism season in full swing on the Lee County barrier island, Bennett's on Sanibel is also extending its hours. The shop will now close at 9 p.m., six hours later than it usually closes. (The Fort Myers store will continue to close at 3 p.m.)

Since the store opens at 6 a.m., patrons can eat donuts and ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
