Howard Sheridan's long list of impressive accomplishments continues to grow.

Tulane University's School of Medicine recently chose the Fort Myers physician to chair its board of governors. Sheridan graduated from the medical school in 1969 and practiced radiology in Fort Myers from 1975 to 2004.

But Sheridan is better known for his entrepreneurial ventures. Together with Daniel Dosoretz, Sheridan founded 21st Century Oncology, now one of the largest operators of cancer-treatment centers in the country. The company operates 185 centers in the U.S. and in Latin America and recently reported quarterly revenues of $258 million.

Sheridan is also a founder of Edison Bancshares, the parent company to Edison National Bank in Fort Myers. Edison is one of the community banks that successfully navigated through the financial crisis.
And here's something you may not know about Sheridan: He's an avid photographer who won the 2007 National Geographic international photography contest in the animal category.
