FORT MYERS — Florida SouthWestern State College Foundation, the college's fundraising arm, is boosting communications with the school's more than 40,000 alumni.

Rio DeArmond, formerly director of recruiting and development for Northwest Mutual Financial Network in Fort Myers, was named director of alumni relations. DeArmond joined the college's foundation in 2011 and graduated from the college in 2005.

Formerly known as Edison State College, Florida SouthWestern has a network of more than 40,000 alumni and currently serves more than 22,000 students.

“Rio has been with the foundation for three years and the choice was easy when we began the search for a new alumni relations director,” said Louis Traina, vice president of institutional advancement. “Not only was she already working closely with our alumni, but as graduate from FSW she understands what they're expecting from an alumni association.”
