Lee hotel revenues jump

FORT MYERS — Revenues at hotels in Lee County posted a jump in revenues as rates and occupancies rose in June compared with the same month a year ago.

Revenue per available room, an important financial gauge that is a function of revenues and occupancies, rose 12.2% to $71.34 in June compared with June 2013, according to Smith Travel.

Hoteliers in Lee County were able to boost rates without sacrificing occupancy. A survey by the Lee County Visitor and Convention Bureau showed a 4.2% increase in the number of visitors in the second quarter ending in June.

The occupancy rate at hotels in Lee County rose to 58.5% in June, up from 54.4% from June 2013. Hoteliers boosted the average daily rate 4.3% to $121.92 over the same one-year period.
