Florida shines for Top Execs

The not-so-well-kept secret is officially out: Chief executives like to live on the Gulf Coast.

So much so that three of the top 10 places for CEOs to live nationwide are on the Gulf Coast, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of U.S. Census data. Those markets are: Naples-Marco Island, where 1.28% of residents are CEOs; Cape Coral-Fort Myers, with 1.27%; and North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota, with 1.20%. Another two regions in the top 10 are on the east coast of Florida: Sebastian-Vero Beach, at 1.37%, and Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach-Deerfield Beach, at 1.20%.

The top region nationally for CEOs to live, the article says, is Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, Conn., outside New York City, with 1.82%. That region is followed by Boulder, Colo., at 1.45%
Chief executives, according to the story, choose Florida for the reasons many already know: no individual state income tax. The article specifically mentions Charles DallAcqua, CEO of marketing firm Leading Response, who moved from Annapolis, Md., to Sarasota. The article also quotes Naples real estate agent Doug Grant, with Coldwell Banker, and Barbara Ackerman, also with Coldwell Banker, in Sarasota.
