NAPLES — Hodges University has appointed Karen McKenzie program chair of a new bachelor's degree in marketing and branding.

Classes for the new degree will begin this summer and will address topics such as strategic retail merchandising, product-quality management, e-commerce, supply chain management and advertising and public relations.

“Marketing is crucial to the success of any business,” says McKenzie, in a statement. “The fields of marketing and branding have really grown in the last few years, especially due to social media and other digital forms of promotions. The curriculum for this program is designed to give students a strong foundation in applied and theoretical knowledge of core marketing activities as well as the ability to plan, develop, and market new brands.”

McKenzie has been teaching at Hodges' Johnson School of Business for three years in the business and management departments. “Nearly every type of business or industry utilizes marketing professionals in some way,” she says. “Job options for degree holders include careers in advertising, brand management, market research, and public relations.”
