CLEARWATER — The Clearwater Technology Alliance has announced plans for the first Clearwater Tech Olympics this May. The new event will take place May 23 at Station Square Park, and the 600 block of Cleveland Street, Clearwater.

The competitions include office chair races, a text messaging/twitter posting obstacle course race, geek/tech costume contest, corn-hole tournament, foosball tournament, Nerf gun shooting competition, and video game tournament.

“We work right alongside a number of technology companies downtown and never really have a chance to mingle, and this is a fantastic opportunity for all of us to become aware of who's here, compete together and just have fun,” Jason Bennick, Clearwater Technology Alliance board member and chief operating officer of AutoLoop, says in a press release.

The group hopes to attract eight to 12 teams and to make the competition an annual event.
