VENICE — PGT Industries has been selected to the 2014 Barron's 400 Index for the second consecutive semester, the impact-resistant window and door manufacturer announced in a statement.

The index comprises Barron's choice for the 400 strongest stocks in North America. The index has bested the S&P 500 Index by more than 5% over the last decade.

To be included, companies are measured on indicators of their financial health, namely growth, value profitability and cash flow — each measured by six factors. To qualify, stocks must have a market capitalization of $250 million and a three-month average dollar-trading volume of $2 million, among other requirements.

Venice-based PGT (symbol: PGTI; recent price: $10.76) reported fourth quarter sales of $62 million, up from $45.2 million in 2012. Sales for the year were $239 million, up from $174 million in 2012.
