New operator buys racetrack, returns it to Desoto Speedway name

BUYER: Desoto Speedway LLC (principal: Dennis Meyer), Bradenton
SELLER: Full Throttle Speedway Inc.
PROPERTY: 21050 E. State Road 64 and an additional 25.004 acres on a portion of East State Road 64, Bradenton
PRICE: $1.08 million
PREVIOUS PRICE: $650,000, February 2013

PLANS, DESCRIPTION:
A purchase entity led by Dennis Meyer of Clearwater purchased the 63-acre Desoto Speedway racetrack for $1.08 million.

The price equated to $17,105 per acre.

Built in the early '70s, the 3/8-mile asphalt track features grandstand seating for 5,000 with concessions.

The prior owners, Plantation-based Full Throttle Speedway Inc. led principally by Kevin Williams and Mike Chase, purchased the property in early 2013. They completed a $200,000 renovation project, and had named the track the Full Throttle Speedway.

Meyer previously founded ABC Heavy Transport and ABC Recovery in Clearwater.
