PLANS, DESCRIPTION: Entrepreneur Dr. Gary Kompothecras and his family purchased 203.03 acres of vacant land in Nokomis south of Oscar Scherer State Park for $15.7 million.

The price equated to $77,328 per acre.

Kompothecras says the property, which is adjacent to the Mission Valley Golf Course, was rare and entitled for a number of different development options, including mixed-use.

“It's just a unique piece with a lot to offer,” he says. “It is shovel-ready already. We're entertaining a lot of uses. Ultimately, the market will dictate [the development], but we're talking to developers right now. It's not going to be overly dense.”

He expects that future development would likely happen in a year and that the project would encompass a residential project with a possible commercial component.

Chiropractor Kompothecras, who owns a number of other businesses, is best known as the owner of the 1-800-ASK-GARY lawyer referral service.
