FORT MYERS — Home prices and sales showed no indication of slowing down in what is traditionally a slow month in September.

The median price of a single-family home in the Fort Myers area rose 25% to $168,450 in September compared with the same month in 2012. The median price of a condo in September rose 29% to $155,000, according to the Realtor Association of Greater Fort Myers and the Beach.

Despite rising home prices, Realtors helped sell more homes and condos in September than they did in September 2012. Single-family home sales rose 15% to 942 and condo sales rose 23% to 432 in September.

“Sales activity continues to be strong in Lee County with the biggest challenges for buyers being available inventory and tight credit,” says Doreen Falcone, president of the association.

Current inventory combined with the current pace of sales resulted in a 5.4-month supply of homes in Lee County for September, the association reports.
