SARASOTA — Prominent nonprofit executive Mack Reid, who helped build the Boys and Girls Club of Sarasota County into a nationally known organization, has been named to the board of directors at Caldwell Trust Co.

“This is great news for us,” Caldwell Trust President and CEO Kelly Caldwell says in a release. “We are thrilled to have Mack with us. He is very highly regarded in the community. He brings an outstanding record of accomplishment and will open many news doors and opportunities for our company. He will be a great addition to our wonderful board.”

Reid was named president and CEO of the Boys and Girls Club in 1989, when the national organization tasked him with saving the local chapter, which had been in danger of shutting down. “They were ready to turn out the lights,” Reid says in a statement.

Reid instead helped rebuild the nonprofit, to where it now runs four clubs and six after-school programs in the county. Reid also worked with many leading local businesses in partnerships during his 22 years at the helm of the organization. He retired in 2011 and took on a fundraising role for two years.

Caldwell Trust Co., founded in 1993, manages more than $650 million in assets for clients nationwide. It has offices in Venice and Sarasota.
