SARASOTA — Ed Senen has been named the new president of the L-3 Aviation Recorders division and will manage its day-to-day operations. Senen succeeds Michael Smith, who is retiring from L-3 after 15 years with the company, according to a statement.

Most recently, Senen spent 11 years with Thales Avionics, serving as vice president and general manager for the Americas. At Thales, he oversaw sales, customer support, repairs, operations and customer satisfaction for various aircraft operators in his territory. Senen will report to Kris Ganase, president of the L-3 Aviation Products business area.

Based in Sarasota, L-3 Aviation Recorders makes “black box” cockpit voice and data recorders for airplanes. Its parent company is New York City-based L-3 (symbol: LLL, recent price: $85.07), which employs 51,000 people worldwide. The company is a leading provider of electronic systems for military and commercial uses.
