PLANS, DESCRIPTION: DiVosta Homes purchased roughly 50 acres in south Sarasota for $5.09 million.

The homebuilder plans to create a gated community on the property called Sandhill Preserve. In its first phase, DiVosta Homes expects to build 111 homes, but it is also under contract to purchase future phases for about 300 homes. Amenities at the new development include a resort-style pool, fitness center and clubhouse.

“Our goal is to have the community open for sales for early 2014 to capture the seasonal buyer,” Valerie Dolenga, corporate communications manager for the DiVosta Homes parent company, PulteGroup Inc., wrote in an email to the Business Observer. “The Sarasota area is a popular area for baby boomers and those looking to move in retirement or purchase a second/vacation home. DiVosta is looking to expand its offering in this great location.”

The community is located between the homebuilder's Isles of Palmer Ranch and IslandWalk of West Villages communities.
