PLANS, DESCRIPTION: The Slavic Church of Evangelical Christian Baptist purchased the 7,600-square-foot New Life International Christian Center church for $550,000.

The price equated to $72 per square foot.

The church building was constructed in 1998.

The Baptist church features a roughly 250-member congregation of Serbian, Slavic and Russian speakers. The Business Observer was unable to contact the church for comment.

The former owner, New Life International Christian Center of Port Charlotte Inc., has rented temporary facilities and plans to build a new facility. Its pastor Jerry Garcia, says the nondenominational Christian church hopes to be in its new church building in about two years.

The Slavic Church of Evangelical Christian Baptist mortgaged the property back to New Life International Christian Center for $225,105.77.
