Benderson Development Co. buys former Sound Advice building

PLANS, DESCRIPTION: University Park-based commercial real estate giant Benderson Development Co. LLC purchased the former Sound Advice and Tweeter building for $1.37 million.

The price equated to $103 per square foot. That figure is lower than the two-year average price per square foot for retail space ($146) in the Tampa Bay area, according to the CoStar Group.

Built in 1974, the 13,356-square-foot building occupies a 1.33-acre parcel at the southeast corner of U.S. 41 and Joan Drive. The retail building was vacant at the time of the sale.
