BONITA SPRINGS — WCI Communities acquired residential land in North Naples for $18.2 million, securities filings show.

The company purchased various parcels, including land near the intersection of Vanderbilt Beach Road and Collier Boulevard in Naples. Officials with WCI declined to comment on the purchase and plans for the properties.

This is the second major land purchase for Bonita Springs-based WCI, which emerged from bankruptcy protection in 2009 and has benefited from the resurgence in residential homebuilding. In April, WCI acquired Sarasota National, a 2,400-acre golf course community in Venice for $47.2 million.

WCI recently filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to sell shares to the public in an initial offering. The company says it plans to raise $150 million and its stock will trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol WCIC.
