Senior housing expands in Punta Gorda

PUNTA GORDA — Brooks & Freund, a Fort Myers-based construction firm, plans to expand The Palms of Punta Gorda Assisted Living Facility.

The firm plans to add 31 housing units, a commercial kitchen, a dining room and a covered porch. The 16,000-square-foot addition is scheduled for completion in October.

Senior housing projects have been one of the busiest sectors of the local construction industry lately. Recent projects include Discovery Village in Fort Myers and Naples, The Terraces at Bonita Springs, Campo Felice in downtown Fort Myers and Moorings Park at Grey Oaks in Naples.
