Residential developers are announcing new communities on a regular basis as the recovery improves on the Gulf Coast.

Even Lee County, which suffered a housing collapse deeper than many areas of the Gulf Coast, is now in the spotlight. In particular, developers are active planning new communities in south Lee County, close to Southwest Florida International Airport and two big malls that were built during the recent boom.

Add another one to the list: Pulte Homes and Cameratta Properties formed a joint venture to develop 700 single-family homes on 722 acres in south Lee County, three miles east of Interstate 75 on Corkscrew Road in Estero.

The venture expects to begin site development in the fall and start selling homes there in 2014.
