SIESTA KEY — A waterfront home on the northern tip of Siesta Key sold for $10 million, one of the highest sale prices for a residential property in Sarasota County in two years.
The six-bedroom property is called Snook Inn for its Old Florida resort-like feel, according to a release from Michael Saunders & Co. Agents with the Sarasota-based firm, one of the leading brokerages in the region, represented both the buyer and the seller in the transaction.
The home, with a deep water, double-vessel boathouse, is on nearly two acres with 500 feet that front Sarasota Bay, according to the release. The architect was Clifford Scholz and the builder was Michael Collingwood. The home's features include an antique pine-paneled library, deluxe custom millwork, oversized waterfront verandas and a one-bedroom guest suite attached to the boathouse. A resort-style swimming pool is outside, in addition to shuffleboard courts, according to the release.
Sales for properties for more than $10 million in the Sarasota-Bradenton market have been rare the past few years. One sale that surpassed that mark was for a property on Longboat Club Road, which closed in April 2011 at $12.5 million. Louis Wery, with Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate, was one of the agents connected to that transaction.
This story has been updated to reflect that the highest sale price for a residential property in Sarasota County in the past two years was more than $10 million.
