TAMPA — Hillsborough County has hired a new director of valuation for its property appraisal office. Patrick Alesandrini, a veteran in the fields of public and private appraising, recently worked in Orlando for Thomson-Reuters, a media and information firm, according to a release.

Alesandrini previously taught courses in appraising in Illinois, and was chief deputy assessor of Tazewell County in Illinois for several years before joining his father's appraisal firm. The firm was prominent in the Illinois appraisal community.

In 2004, the family company was purchased by Manatron, a Michigan-based software company, which in turn was purchased by New York-based Thomson-Reuters. Alesandrini left Thomson-Reuters in January.

Hillsborough County Property Appraiser Bob Henriquez says in a statement that hiring Alesandrini as its director of the valuation process was a “major coup.”
