Rynerson served two terms on the board from 2000 to 2008, and he was reappointed for a third term in 2010 by then Gov. Charlie Crist. Rynerson has served on several boards, the releases states, and he represents the airport, which goes by the call letters SRQ, on the Manatee County Tourist Development Council and the Metropolitan Planning Organization.

The authority also announced that Dr. Peter Wish, a retired psychologist from Sarasota, will be vice chairman and John Stafford, a new board member, will be secretary. Stafford is chairman of the board of Sarasota-based FCCI Insurance Group.
