LAW FIRM ON DEED: Robert L. Barnes Jr. PL, Tampa
PLANS, DESCRIPTION: The School Board of Hillsborough County has received ownership of 34 acres of residential and wooded land east of U.S. 301.
The property was transferred in exchange for $5.02 million in impact-fee credits, equal to $147,777 per acre.
The property will likely be used for a future middle school. The site will replace a previous location in the South Fork community.
“[The developer] said this site would likely be better for us,” says Lorraine Duffy Suarez, general manager for growth management and planning in the Hillsborough County School District's facilities division. “It certainly has better access. Our five-year plan, which was approved by the school, has that school opening in August 2016. We have another elementary school to open prior to that one in 2015.”
The average capacity of a new school in the district is 1,300 students.
