American Airways and US Airways want to merge, but the Justice Department says "no." Now, they're ready to fight it. Will it be cheaper for fliers, will it be more expensive? We'll see. [USA Today]

Dell is kind of in trouble. Investor Carl Icahn tried to stop a $25 billion takeover of the company but a judge denied his lawsuit. None of that sounds good. I am glad I'm not a Dell. [Reuters]

Airlines are trying to differentiate themselves and stand out for potential passengers. The U.K.'s Virgin Atlantic may have taken that a step too far by offering in-flight live entertainment. This month the entertainment is comedians, then it becomes musicians performing acoustic sets. Interesting business strategy, let's see if it pays off for them. [MSN Money]

Apple and Samsung have been fighting over a patent. Samsung thinks Apple infringed and so on and so forth. President Barack Obama intervened by vetoing a ban on certain Apple iPhones and iPads. Oh dear... [Wall Street Journal]

Clearwater-based Hooters made an interesting move this week. San Diego Mayor Bob Filner will not be allowed in any Hooters locations in his city. The company says this isn't coming from them, but they stand by their women. The franchisee cited a belief that "women should be treated with respect." [ABC News]
