You may know Jim Gburek as the Florida president for IberiaBank, but you may not be aware of his musical prowess.

In a previous life, Gburek was a music professor and accomplished concert pianist. Gburek earned a master's degree in music from SUNY Stony Brook in New York and a bachelor's degree in music from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at musical halls throughout the United States and Canada in addition to serving as an adjunct professor teaching music at several universities. In 1984, he changed careers by earning an M.B.A. and starting over as a banker, spending most of that time with Wachovia before joining IberiaBank.

Now, you'll get a glimpse of his musical expertise at two concerts Gburek will perform later this month. The recitals will include works by Bach, Mozart and contemporary composer Alberto Ginastera.

The first recital will take place Aug. 19 at the IberiaBank branch on Marco Island, 605 Bald Eagle Drive. The second one will be at The Club at Olde Cypress, 7165 Treeline Drive, Naples. Both concerts are free. A reception starts at 6 p.m. followed by the recital at 7 p.m.
