Moving the corporate headquarters and hundreds of Hertz employees to Southwest Florida from New Jersey is a huge undertaking.

Just how big became apparent when Hertz disclosed the price tag for the move in its most recent quarterly financial report: $30 million to $35 million.

That's how much it will cost to relocate employees and pay “severance and associated costs” over the next two years. But it does not include the construction of a new corporate headquarters building near Coconut Point Mall in Estero, which economic development officials have estimated will cost the rental-car giant $69 million.

In its quarterly filing, Hertz says it hasn't determined the cost of the new building yet. Together, the state and county offered Hertz incentives totaling $18.4 million to move.
