The Holiday Beach Resort on Longboat Key is being demolished in preparation for construction of the planned 11-unit Infinity condominium.

During the three days prior to demolition, Longboat Key Fire Rescue will use the site for drills.

The resort was built in 1956 and is located at 4765 Gulf of Mexico Drive.

An earlier development, the Bleu Claire condominium, was originally planned for the site in 2007 but was put on hold because of the recession and housing crash.

In March, Michael Saunders & Co. unveiled the Infinity project, covering the same basic footprint as Bleu Claire with an updated design.

The project consists of nine three- to four-bedroom units and two penthouse units ranging from $2.8 million to $4.95 million.

Nell Leffel, of Michael Saunders & Co.'s New Homes & Condominium Division, is the sales associate for the project.

Sarasota architect Mark Sultana of DSDG Architects is the architect, and Crossgate Partners LLC of Atlanta is the developer.
