Two of the top charity wine auctions in the country take place in an area where only muscadines grow.

According to the Wine Spectator's most recent issue, the top two charity wine auctions in 2012 took place in Naples and Fort Myers, respectively.

The Naples Winter Wine Festival raised $11.88 million and the Southwest Florida Wine and Food Fest in Fort Myers raised $1.56 million in 2012. Naples was ranked first and Fort Myers ranked third on the list. The Auction Napa Valley ranked second with $5 million.

Most impressive is that the Fort Myers auction ranked so high despite the fact that it was launched in 2009. It is the youngest charity auction in the top 10 list.
