North Port ranks as most affordable

Everybody loves rankings, especially the good-news ones.

Add North Port in Sarasota County near the Charlotte County line to the happy rankings list.

A recent CNN/Money ranking lists North Port as the second-most affordable city in America, behind Spring, Texas, a suburb of Houston.

With a median home price of $86,000 and median family income of $58,180, North Port is a bargain. In addition to the reasonable house prices, the ranking points out that North Port's property taxes are 15% below the state average.
