ST. PETERSBURG — Edward White Hospital, a 162-bed acute care facility in St. Petersburg, has named Sharon D. Hayes as its new chief executive officer. Hayes was formerly chief operating officer at Chippenham Medical Center, a 466-bed hospital in Richmond, Va.

Earlier, she was chief nursing officer for administration at the Jack Nicklaus Children's Hospital at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach. A registered nurse, Hayes earned an M.B.A. with honors from Florida Atlantic University.

“I look forward to building upon existing relationships and creating new ones within Pinellas County, and taking Edward White Hospital to the next Level,” Hayes says in a news release. The appointment is effective Oct. 31.
