Lee County recently got some kudos from the Ivory Tower.

Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government recently recognized the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau's Guest First program as one of the most innovative government initiatives.

The Guest First program is a workshop geared toward helping hospitality employees and managers sharpen their customer service skills. More than 150 hotels, attractions and restaurants have participated in the two-and-a-half-hour workshops since the bureau started them in 1999. There is no cost to participants.

The idea of the workshop is to make sure that guests who come to Lee County keep coming back because of the fine hospitality they encounter at hotels, restaurants and attractions.
