PLANS, DESCRIPTION: The Sarasota County Public Hospital District purchased a 4,008-square-foot freestanding commercial building for $1 million.

The price equated to $250 per square foot.

The health care system plans to develop its fourth urgent care center on the 1.56-acre site. The Sarasota County Public Hospital Board has approved constructing a two-story, 12,000-square-foot building on the parcel with an urgent care center and imaging lab services on the first floor.

The second floor will be used for physician offices.

Barring unforeseen regulatory or construction challenges, the new building is scheduled for completion next summer.

The development and equipment for the project are expected to cost $7.1 million.

Sarasota Memorial operates urgent care facilities in Heritage Harbour in Bradenton and on University Parkway and Stickney Point in Sarasota. The centers provide immediate, but non-emergency medical care, including treatment for cuts, burns, sprains, strains and broken bones.
