Entrepreneurs battle it out

This is the business version of cage fighting, minus the blood.

Twenty-five young technology entrepreneurs recently fought it out in Startup Battle, in which contestants build teams and have 48 hours to launch a new startup business.

Held at the newly opened Venture X co-working space in Naples recently, these entrepreneurs came up with some terrific ideas. Consider:

•Chimed: A smartphone-enabled doorbell that alerts you when someone's at the door.
•Accessory Addict: A subscription-based accessories service for women.
•Pronector: Connecting with people at conferences and events by searching for attendees with keywords you're looking for.
• Rectangle: NFC (near-field communications) enabled business cards, which automatically sync with Android phones.
•BAUSS Management: a single portal for all communication to flow through for condominium and homeowners associations.
