One of the most powerful insurance lobbying arms in the state, the Florida Association of Insurance Agents, has surpassed 2,000 members — the largest it's ever been.

The FAIA has now doubled the amount of agencies it represents since 1998. The growth defies a trend in several other states, where insurance lobbying membership has slowed due to the recession and industry consolidation, say FAIA officials.

Moreover, the association, in a release, says the growth is “a reflection of the success of its members, who continue to persevere despite a very challenging Florida insurance market.”

The Tallahassee-based association was founded in 1904. Its mission is to promote a healthy and competitive insurance environment. “FAIA has a long and storied history,” CEO and President Jeff Grady says in the release. “We look forward to working on behalf of independent agents for many more years to come.”
