NAPLES — Revenue per available room at hotels in Collier County rose 5.4% in April to $174.20 compared with the same month one year ago, according to Research Data Services Inc.

Revenue per available room, a function of occupancy and average daily rate, is an important financial gauge of the hotel industry.

In April, occupancy rose 1.9 percentage points to 78% compared with April 2011 while the average daily rate rose 2.9% to $223.30 in the same period.

The number of visitors to Collier County in April rose 5.4% compared with April 2011 despite the fact that Easter came earlier this year. Visitor increases were particularly strong from Canada, the Midwest and the Northeast.
