According to discount travel website Hotwire.com's Travel Value Index study, Tampa ranks sixth and Florida cities dominate the top 10 destinations where travelers get the most for their money, a release from the company says.
Orlando ranked first on the list, with an overall index rating of 100, and Miami ranked 10th with a rating of 79. Tampa received an index rating of 91, dropping slightly from its position at No. 4 on the list in 2011. The complete list of cities follows below.
Hotwire.com says Orlando's new attractions, including the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park, helped it grab the top spot this year. “Tampa and Miami also make returns to the list this year for their low prices and entertainment options, making Florida an overall value state for travelers,” the company explains in its release.
Launched in 2000, Hotwire.com is a subsidiary of Expedia Inc. The website offers discounted travel bookings to help suppliers fill unsold airline seats, hotel rooms, rental cars and more.
