SARASOTA - Karen E. Rushing, Sarasota County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller, received her third Statewide 2012 Clerk of the Year award from the Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers Association (FCC&C), according to a press release.

Rushing has been the elected Clerk of the Circuit Court in Sarasota County since 1987.

The FCC&C says in the release that it chose Rushing for her ability to handle the role as statewide spokeswoman and coordinator for the clerks' issues during this year's Florida Legislative session.

The award was presented at the annual conference of the FCC&C in Panama City Beach. Association president and Clerk of Pinellas County Ken Burke presented the award.

“Karen Rushing ably assumed the role of representing Florida's 67 Clerks of the Circuit Court throughout the tough legislative session, in our editorial board outreach efforts and the continuing media responses,” Burke says in the release.
